(1) The Dallas Mayor Back
to School Fair is an annual event organized
by the Mayor of Dallas and his office. The event is twenty-eight years old (2024). The
purpose of the event is to help set up children of Dallas for success for the
new school year by providing them with essential school supplies. The event is
a collaboration with the City of Dallas, Dallas ISD, nonprofits, corporations
and community volunteers. The event attracts
more than 30,000 attendees and is held on the first Friday in August at Fair
Park- Centennial and Automobile Buildings in South Dallas. Check out photos from past fairs.
(2) Quarterly Food Distributions is coordinated quarterly food in the North Texas area as a social commitment to combat food insecurity in North Texas. As a community partner with Feed the Children and other Food Distribution Networks, we distribute food items quarterly in the South Dallas area. Food distributions are done in alignment with major holidays (Easter, Summer, Thanksgiving and Christmas) and food items are distributed free to any family that can use the assistance. Each food distribution caters to an estimated 1500 families and are done in partnerships with local community organizations such as Martin Luther King Jr Center and Cornerstone Church. Check out photos from past distributions in the drop down menu.
(3) Annual Excellence In Character Scholarships is Oasis Focus Inc annual scholarship award program to three high school graduating seniors. Information about the scholarship is distributed to schools (both private and public) in North Texas counties (Dallas, Tarrant and Collin). Graduating seniors apply for the scholarship by submitting an extensive application that includes the following: an essay describing how volunteering has shaped applicant’s character, record of volunteer service in a non-school related activity, meet a minimum GPA of 3.0, IRS income tax to show requirement for Federal low SES level, copy of acceptance letter to a 2 or 4 year college or technical school and letter of recommendation by applicant’s guidance counselor.
